How to Prepare Windows for Winter?
To ensure the longevity of your windows and doors, it is necessary to perform the following tasks at least twice a year (preferably in spring and autumn):
- Use a dry, non-fluffy cloth to wipe away dust, debris, and construction residues from the hardware.
- Check if the hinges of casement windows and doors are securely fastened and tighten the screws if they are loose.
- Window sealing: Inspect the tightness of the windows and ensure there are no gaps or spaces between the frame and the glass.
- Tighten window handles if their bases have become loose.
- Lubricate the tongue of door locks and the hinges, extending them beforehand.
- Examine the condensation drain spaces located at the bottom of the frame and door bottoms.
- Apply silicone grease to the rubber seals in windows and door frames at least twice a year to prevent cracking and maintain elasticity.
- Gradually increase the temperature of heating devices when the heating season begins, rather than doing so abruptly.
- Keep heating devices at least 30 cm away from the glass surface. If the glass is tempered, the distance should be no less than 15 cm to avoid thermal shock.
- Ensure that the temperature of heating devices near the glass does not exceed 65°C.
- Ventilation is crucial. Despite the winter cold, regularly ventilate the rooms to maintain air quality.
